Membership Meeting and Member Social

On July 8th PTCTU hosted our annual Membership Meeting and Member Social. Before the meeting we were all entertained by a couple humorous videos of extraordinary talking parrots. Once those videos had thoroughly entertained us the meeting got down to business.

Zach Hansen, Union President, introduced our new UniServ Director Jordan Harris, presented union news about layoffs and information about the ratification to our Constitution and By-Laws. Just a couple weeks ago 19 individuals were laid-off from the college. Only one was from PTCTU and the union is doing as much as we can for that individual. The union was assured by President Knight that there will be no lay-offs in the near future. Information about the Consitution and By-Laws was predominantly about a change in grammer in the language of the text, as well as a change in terms for the officers and Zone Representatives. After Zach finished his presentation we all voted for Union Officers from nominations that were gathered two weeks prior, as well as ratification of the Consitution and By-Laws.

Once we were done voting we all headed to the Outdoor Amphitheater Lawn to get some lunch buffet-style and network with each other. Sloppy Joes, Salad, Macaroni salad, Fruit, Chips, Pop and Cookies were served to members of the union. Overall it was a lovely summer lunch. We were able to meet and talk to our new UniServ Director Jordan Harris, and to hobnob with our promoted previous UniServ Director Cheryl Conklin.

Zach did the honors of drawing names for the numerous door prizes not too long after people were finished eating. Some of the door prizes included: Dinner & a Movie, Gift Certificates to local restaurants, Beach items, Mugs, and a 320GB external Hard-drive! There were lots of prizes and a good portion of those who came and stuck around were able to get a prize.

Don't forget to look us up for events in the coming year!!
